Applies to Cmsmart Product Designer (NBDesigner) 2.17.0 · Updated October 2026. The request-a-quote flow, Pricing Options, Order Upload, Online Designer, Print-Ready Files and Artwork Approval described below are live plugin modules, checked against the 2.17.0 changelog and today's captures on nbdesigner.cmsmart.net. Drafting a quote from an RFQ, suggesting a reorder and normalising a supplier catalogue with AI are not in the plugin today — Cmsmart builds them as custom development on top of these modules.

In short

  • Outcome: a B2B buyer gets a quote, a reorder reminder or a clean catalogue line in minutes instead of days, without your team retyping specs from an email or a supplier spreadsheet.
  • How it works: Cmsmart's request-a-quote, Pricing Options and Order Upload modules already hold structured product and price data; a custom AI layer reads an RFQ or a supplier file and drafts the quote, reminder or catalogue entry from that same structure for a person to approve.
  • What it takes: the B2B and pricing modules set up as they are today, plus a scoped custom development project to connect an AI step to your quote, reorder and catalogue workflows.

What does manual quoting and catalogue clean-up really cost your B2B team?

Cmsmart Product Designer already tracks every price rule, uploaded file and order note, so the real cost of manual B2B quoting is staff time, not missing data: someone still reads each RFQ, matches it to a price, and retypes a supplier's spec sheet before it fits your catalogue.

This is not a software gap — it is the work that happens before the data reaches the plugin:

  • An RFQ arrives as an email or a PDF, and a person copies the material, size and quantity into a quote by hand before a price can go out.
  • A B2B account that reorders every quarter gets forgotten between orders, because nothing in the inbox reminds anyone to check.
  • Each supplier's catalogue uses its own names for material, size and unit — "300gsm silk" in one sheet, "SLK-300" in another — and someone reconciles that before it matches your option sets.
  • Cost of the status quo, with your own numbers: RFQs per month × hours per RFQ to quote × your fully loaded hourly cost, plus the hours per week spent reconciling supplier sheets.

Fictiv's 2025 State of Manufacturing & Supply Chain report, surveying 254 engineering and supply-chain leaders, found 76% of engineers spend more than four hours a week on sourcing, quoting and order-related procurement work, up from 13% to 19% spending over eight hours a week in a year (Fictiv, 2025). On the buyer side, a Sana Commerce survey of 1,000 B2B buyers found 68% are discouraged from ordering online because of order errors, and 28% cited missing product information as the reason (Sana Commerce, via Digital Commerce 360, 2024).

Cmsmart insight: in our project work, the slowest part of a catalogue clean-up is rarely the technology — it is matching a supplier's free-text material or size names to the option values your price rules already use. Get that mapping right once and every RFQ, quote and reorder that touches the same product gets faster automatically.

What would AI in B2B ecommerce look like on your store?

On Cmsmart Product Designer, a buyer's RFQ, reorder history and uploaded artwork already sit on one order and one account. Custom AI development reads that same data to draft a quote, flag a reorder or clean a catalogue line, so a person reviews a draft instead of starting from a blank page.

Example scenario. An RFQ arrives for 2,000 branded tote bags in three sizes, with a supplier spec sheet attached. An AI step reads the sheet, matches the sizes and material to your Pricing Options price rules, and drafts a quote in the request-a-quote flow with a note on anything it could not match. Your team checks the draft and sends it. Ninety days later, when the account's reorder window comes around, the same system drafts a reminder with the last design and quantity attached, instead of waiting for the buyer to remember.

Nothing in that story replaces your team's judgment — it removes the retyping between an RFQ, a price rule and a catalogue entry that already exist in three different formats today. The same product page a buyer uses today already carries the design and price data an AI-drafted quote would start from:

AI in B2B ecommerce starts with this data: Cmsmart demo product page for Invitation with price, the Start and upload design button, and quantity before Add to cart
The product page itself exposes price, the design entry point and Add to cart; the "Request a quote" link in the top banner is a site-wide link, not a per-product button.

A buyer (or a staff member turning an RFQ into a sample) starts the same way: upload finished artwork or design online.

How does Cmsmart support AI in B2B ecommerce today?

Cmsmart Product Designer already ships the request-a-quote flow, the price-matrix engine, the print-area settings and the reorder mechanism an AI layer reads and writes to; drafting the quote or reminder itself is the custom-development solution built on top.

Six building blocks make up the flow, each checked against the plugin's own source or the current demo, not assumed. All six are live in the plugin today:

  • Request a quote. A Request a quote button and quote form can replace Add to cart; accepted quotes are paid as a normal order, with no retyping.
  • Pricing Options — material, size and quantity. Material, paper weight, custom dimensions and quantity breaks live in Pricing Options, not a separate product builder — the structured data an AI draft would match an RFQ against.
  • Online Designer — print areas, bleed and safe zone. Bleed, safe zone and the exact print size are set per side in the designer's product setup, so a design stays print-ready however it reaches the cart.
  • Order Upload and Artwork Approval. Customers attach print-ready files with type, size and DPI rules; staff accept or decline each design in the order's Customer Design box, with the reason emailed automatically.
  • Print-Ready Files and AI Print Preflight. Cmsmart Cloud renders a print-ready PDF that matches the order — including a custom size — as soon as the buyer clicks Process, and AI Print Preflight can check resolution, colour, fonts and bleed before production.
  • My designs and Order again. A buyer's past design, options and files return to the cart in one click via Order again, and the approved-artwork lock stops an approved design from being overwritten — both useful anchors for an AI-drafted reorder reminder.
Cmsmart Pricing Options price matrix, quantity pricing table and Add a quote button on a business card product
Material, paper weight and quantity breaks come from Pricing Options, not a separate "product builder" — the same structured data a custom AI layer would read to draft a quote through Add a quote.

What is missing from the list above is the AI step itself: reading an unstructured RFQ or supplier sheet and mapping it onto this structure. That is custom development, covered below.

Cmsmart order screen showing a Ready print-ready PDF and the Create PDF panel with product size and bleed line settings
Bleed and the exact print size live in the designer's print-ready output, not in a product's option fields — the file a reorder reuses without anyone redrawing it.

What's the business value of adding AI to B2B quotes and reorders?

Cmsmart's plugin removes retyping between the cart, the order and production; a custom AI layer removes the retyping before that, between an RFQ or supplier sheet and the first price rule — so the value shows up as staff hours back, not a promised sales lift.

BenefitHow it shows up in your businessKPI to track
Faster first response to an RFQA draft quote is ready for review instead of started from a blank formHours from RFQ received to quote sent
Fewer missed reordersAccounts due to reorder get a drafted reminder instead of relying on memoryReorder rate among active B2B accounts
Cleaner supplier catalogueSupplier spec sheets map to your existing Pricing Options option valuesHours spent reconciling catalogue data per import
Fewer quote correctionsDrafts are checked against real price rules, not retyped by handShare of quotes corrected after the buyer replies

Work out your own numbers

  • Hours saved on quoting = (hours per RFQ today − hours per RFQ once a draft is pre-filled) × RFQs per month × your fully loaded hourly cost.
  • Reorder value protected = active B2B accounts × average reorder value × the share who act on a timely reminder instead of forgetting.
  • Catalogue hours saved = supplier lines per import × minutes per line to normalise by hand, minus minutes per line once a mapping step pre-fills the option values.

McKinsey's ninth B2B Pulse Survey of 3,942 decision makers found self-service digital commerce and remote sales already make up 34% of B2B revenue at companies that sell online (McKinsey, via Digital Commerce 360, 2024), and 19% of B2B companies are already using generative AI in buying and selling, with another 23% piloting it (McKinsey, via Digital Commerce 360, 2024) — a buyer asking for an AI-backed quote is no longer an edge case. How do you set up the B2B building blocks Cmsmart already has?

Before an AI layer can draft anything, the plugin's own B2B and pricing modules need configuring, so a drafted quote or reorder lands on the structured data your team already relies on — no custom code required.

  1. In wp-admin open Cmsmart, Printing Options and build an option set for material, size and finishing, with a price rule for each choice.
  2. Set the layout to Price Matrix or add quantity breaks for bulk B2B pricing.
  3. Turn on Request a quote for products a formula cannot price, and build the quote form fields staff need.
  4. On upload-enabled products, set allowed file types, size limits and a minimum DPI under Upload Design.
  5. In the Online Designer product setup, define each print area with its bleed and safe zone.
  6. Under WooCommerce, Settings, Cmsmart, switch on Auto export design to PDF so a print-ready file queues as soon as a buyer clicks Process.
  7. Decide whether the print-ready PDF attaches to the admin new-order email, and leave cloud rendering on unless you render on your own server.
  8. Place a test RFQ through the quote form, approve it, and confirm it pays as a normal order with the design and options attached.
  9. Place a second test order and use My designs, Order again to confirm a reorder restores the same design and files.

What can Cmsmart build on top for AI quotes, reorders and catalogues?

Drafting a quote from an RFQ, nudging a reorder and normalising a supplier catalogue are not in Cmsmart Product Designer today; Cmsmart builds them as custom development that reads and writes to the plugin's own quote, order and option-set data, so nothing duplicates what already exists.

Four extensions come up most often for B2B stores already running the plugin:

  • AI RFQ-to-quote drafting. Staff spend hours matching an RFQ to a price before they can reply. We build a service that reads the RFQ, matches it to your Pricing Options rules, and pre-fills a draft in the quote flow for a person to check and send.
  • Reorder suggestions. Repeat B2B orders get missed between contract renewals. We build a scheduled job over your order history that flags accounts due to reorder and drafts a reminder from the account's last design and quantity in My designs.
  • Supplier catalogue normalisation. Every supplier names material, size and unit differently. We build a mapping step that reads a supplier's sheet and proposes matching Pricing Options values, so an admin approves the mapping instead of retyping every line.
  • Catalogue and order data sync to your ERP or MIS. A quote or reorder that lives only in WooCommerce still needs re-keying elsewhere. We build an API integration that keeps both systems in step.

Each runs through the same delivery approach as any Cmsmart project: discovery, a solution design you approve before any build starts, development in sprints, QA against your real catalogue, launch and support — see our ecommerce project delivery model.

Why work with Cmsmart for a B2B AI integration project?

Cmsmart has built on WooCommerce and its own Product Designer plugin since 2012 as a division of Netbase JSC, so a custom AI layer for quotes, reorders or catalogues is added to a store the team already knows, not a new platform.

  • 6,300+ client projects and 4,600+ delivered since 2012, across 1,800+ live stores in 80+ countries.
  • 500+ custom development projects since 2012, including B2B and web-to-print work beyond the core plugin.
  • Trustpilot rating of 4.2 from 404 reviews, verified on Trustpilot.
  • 120+ engagements running five years or more, relevant to an integration that keeps working as your catalogue and your AI provider both change.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cmsmart Product Designer draft B2B quotes with AI out of the box?

No. The plugin ships the request-a-quote button, the quote form builder and the price-matrix engine that a quote needs; reading an RFQ and drafting the quote text or price automatically is custom development built on top of that data.

Can Cmsmart suggest reorders to our B2B customers automatically?

The plugin already restores a buyer's design, options and files in one click through My designs, Order again. Proactively flagging an account that is due to reorder and drafting the reminder is a custom integration over your order history.

Can AI clean up a supplier catalogue with inconsistent material and size names?

Not natively. We build a mapping step as custom development that reads a supplier's sheet and proposes matching values in your Pricing Options option sets, so an admin approves the mapping instead of retyping it.

Which AI features are already in the plugin today?

AI Remove Background, AI Upscale and AI Print Preflight run inside the online designer and the order screen on your existing Cmsmart licence — see Cmsmart AI for what each one checks. These work on images and print files, not on RFQ text or catalogue spreadsheets.

How long does a custom AI quoting or reorder project take?

It depends on how many systems the AI step has to read from and write to. A scoped discovery call sizes the work before anything is built — see the delivery model for the stages involved.

Do we need WooCommerce experience on our side to run this?

No. Cmsmart configures the Pricing Options, request-a-quote and reorder modules and builds the AI layer; your team reviews drafted quotes and reminders the way they would check a colleague's draft.
