Migrate from Magento to WooCommerce

Benefits

Cmsmart moves print and B2B stores from Magento to WooCommerce. We move products, customers, orders and content, rebuild your storefront and product options, map every old URL to a 301 redirect, and test everything before go-live. We start with a free written assessment of your store; the migration is then quoted separately.

Description

For Magento store owners who want a simpler platform they can manage themselves, especially if you still run Magento 1 (end of life), sell print, promotional or personalised products, or sell B2B with customer groups, tier prices or quote requests. WooCommerce runs on WordPress; the Cmsmart Ecommerce Plugin for WooCommerce adds a product designer and web-to-print ordering.

If your store depends on complex Magento features, such as multi-store with shared stock or a heavily customised checkout, the assessment says whether WooCommerce is a good fit. Sometimes it is not, and staying on Magento is the better choice.

Scope

AreaWhat we doHonest note
CatalogueProducts, variants (configurable to variable), attributes, categories, images, stockBundled and grouped products are mapped case by case
CustomersAccounts, addresses, customer groupsPasswords are stored hashed, so customers usually set a new password with a reset email
OrdersOrder history with status and totalsRead-only history; payments are not charged again
ContentCMS pages, blocks and blog posts where presentLayouts are rebuilt, not copied
URLs and SEOFull 301 map from old to new URLs, canonicals, XML sitemap, check after launchWe do not promise to keep rankings or traffic
Print and personalisationProduct options, print specs, artwork upload, Cmsmart designer set-upOnly data with a standard export format moves; the rest is rebuilt by hand
B2B pricingCustomer groups, tier and contract prices, private cataloguesMapped to WooCommerce with extensions or custom code
IntegrationsPayment, shipping, ERP/CRM, emailRebuilt and tested against your real integration list

Deliverables

  • A written migration plan: data map, extension map, URL map, risks and timeline.
  • A staging WooCommerce store with your migrated data, for you to review.
  • A 301 redirect map, loaded and tested.
  • A test report covering checkout, payments, emails, B2B prices and print files.
  • A go-live checklist and a record of the final sync.
  • Admin handover. Ongoing support is optional.

What you provide

  • Admin and database access, or a full export, preferably from a copy.
  • A list of your installed Magento extensions and what each one is used for.
  • Your top URLs by traffic (Google Search Console export), so the redirects cover them.
  • Payment, shipping and ERP/CRM accounts, with sandbox credentials where they exist.
  • Print specs and sample artwork for print products.
  • One decision-maker who can sign off each milestone.

Privacy: we ask for the least access we need, use temporary or read-only accounts, transfer data encrypted, and delete our copies after handover. Customer data never appears in our portfolio.

Proof and process

Projects follow our delivery process: discovery, written requirements (BRD), design, development and integration, QA and user testing (UAT), then launch. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep my product URLs?

Often, yes. WooCommerce permalinks can be shaped to match many Magento URL patterns. Any URL that must change gets a 301 redirect, and we check the redirects against your Search Console data after launch.

Will my customers need new passwords?

Usually, yes. Magento stores passwords hashed and WooCommerce uses a different scheme. The normal approach is a password-reset email at launch; the assessment confirms the method for your store.

Is my order history migrated?

Yes, as read-only history in WooCommerce, with statuses, items and totals. Payments are not charged again.

How long does the store go offline?

We build and test on staging while your Magento store stays live. At go-live there is a short content freeze and a final sync; the plan gives the exact window.

What happens to my Magento extensions?

Each one is mapped to a WooCommerce extension, a Cmsmart feature or custom code. Some are simply not needed any more. The extension map is part of the written plan.

Do you migrate to Cmsmart B2B Ecommerce?

Cmsmart B2B Ecommerce is in development. Today we move B2B stores to WooCommerce with proven extensions and custom development.
