The Cmsmart Product Designer for WooCommerce (formerly NBDesigner) on a demo store.
In short
How do you migrate from Volusion to WooCommerce without losing SEO?
To migrate from Volusion to WooCommerce without losing SEO, we export your catalogue and customers from Volusion's import and export tools, merge Volusion's own 301 redirect list with a map of every old product and category address, and give you a 301 CSV to approve before launch. We test on staging and watch crawl errors for 30 days.
Key facts: Volusion to Cmsmart Ecommerce
Scope
Volusion products, variants, customers, orders and URLs, moved to a WooCommerce store on Cmsmart Ecommerce.
What you keep
Catalogue and images, customer accounts and addresses, order history as read-only records, page titles and descriptions, and a 301 for every old URL.
Typical inputs
Admin access to Volusion's Import/Export tools or the API export files, your 301 redirect XML if you have one, and your list of integrations and checkout settings.
Deliverables
A data map, a redirect CSV you approve, a staging store, a QA check, the cut-over and a 30-day watch.
How pricing works
Quoted per project after a free assessment. There is no price list and no obligation.
The same five steps for every store: you approve the data map and the redirect CSV before the cut-over.
Why merchants move
Why merchants leave Volusion
The factors we hear most, stated fairly. Where a source link is shown, it is the platform's own page, read on 10 October 2026.
Older VOLT stores must be recreated
Volusion says a store on its older VOLT platform has to be recreated on the current V1 platform, with products brought in through the import tools. A merchant who faces that rebuild anyway can compare it with a move to a store they own.
The import tool accepts CSV only and imports into one table at a time. Exports are also per table, and very large tables can time out, so a full copy needs several runs.
Volusion's blog article says a blog must first be created on a third-party site and then linked to the store domain, so blog content is not part of the store data.
You approve the redirect CSV before launch, so every old address has a destination.
Data
What we do
Products and variants
Titles, descriptions, SKUs, variants, attributes, prices, stock and images.
Categories and attributes
Category tree and product attributes, mapped to WooCommerce.
Customers
Accounts and addresses. No Volusion page we read says customer passwords can be exported, so we plan for customers to set a new password with a reset email. We confirm this in the assessment.
Orders
Order history with status and totals, as read-only history. Payments are never charged again.
Reviews
Product reviews where the platform lets us export them.
Pages and blog
Content pages and blog posts. Layouts are rebuilt, not copied.
SEO URLs
A redirect map from every old URL to the new one, delivered as a CSV you approve before launch.
Titles and descriptions
Meta titles and descriptions carried over so search listings keep their wording.
301 redirects
Volusion's redirect manager exports an XML list of source and target paths, which we merge into the redirect CSV.
Variants and images
Variant columns and image URLs from the product sheet become WooCommerce variations and the media library.
Blog
A Volusion blog is hosted on a separate site, so it is moved as its own step.

Export method
How your Volusion data gets out
In the Volusion admin, Inventory, Import/Export offers a Standard Export of one database table at a time, with chosen columns, as CSV, tab, pipe or XML. Saved Exports run custom queries to CSV. The Volusion API gives XML exports of products, orders and customers, one hundred records per run. The product import sheet documents variant columns and image URLs. Whether an export includes variants, images or reviews depends on tables we confirm in the assessment.
Products and categories: exported table by table, with the SEO name, SEO title and SEO description columns.
Variants and images: documented in the product import sheet; the export of each is confirmed per store.
Customers and orders: exported through Saved Exports or the API.
Redirects: Volusion's own redirect list can be exported as XML and is merged into the redirect map.
Reviews and content pages: no export route is documented in the pages we read, so they are checked in the assessment.
Protecting your search listings when you leave Volusion
We cannot promise rankings or traffic. These are the steps that protect what can be protected.
Volusion can export its 301 redirects as an XML file of source and target paths (Settings, Maintenance, Manage 301 Redirects). We merge that list into the new redirect map so earlier redirects are not lost.
Product import columns include SEO Friendly Name, SEO Title and SEO Description, so the metadata travels with the product sheet.
With search-engine-friendly URLs on, products use addresses such as /product-text_p/code.htm and categories /category-text_s/id.htm. Without them, addresses look like /ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=. We list the addresses your store actually serves and map each one.
Editing a category or product URL text in Volusion creates an automatic 301 from the old address, so older chains are collapsed into one hop from the old address to the new one.
Re-create the XML sitemap, submit it, and watch crawl errors and redirects for 30 days after cut-over.
What gets rebuilt
What is rebuilt on Cmsmart Ecommerce
Some things cannot be copied, so they are rebuilt and tested.
The storefront theme, designed on a Cmsmart Store preset or built to your brand.
Apps and extensions, replaced by Cmsmart modules (product designer, price calculator, file upload, artwork approval, B2B) or a matching WooCommerce plugin.
Integrations: payments, shipping, tax, email, ERP and CRM, rebuilt and tested against your real list.
Custom logic, such as special pricing or order rules, built as scoped custom development.
After you move
What you gain on Cmsmart Ecommerce
Built on WooCommerce, so you own your store. Cmsmart adds the parts a personalised or printed product business needs, and runs them for you if you want.
We cannot promise rankings or traffic. We build a redirect map from every old URL to its new one, carry over titles and descriptions, submit an XML sitemap and watch crawl errors for 30 days after launch.
Can customer passwords be migrated?
No Volusion page we read says customer passwords can be exported, so we plan for customers to set a new password with a reset email. We confirm this in the assessment.
How long does the migration take?
The timeline is set in the free assessment. It depends on catalogue size, order history and integrations, so we do not quote a standard duration.
Will my store go offline?
Your current store keeps selling while we build and test on a staging store. Only the final cut-over, a data sync and a DNS switch, needs a short planned window.
Can my current apps be replaced?
Volusion integrations such as the QuickBooks connector, shipping and marketing feeds are mapped one by one to a Cmsmart module or a WooCommerce plugin. Anything with no equivalent is quoted as custom development.
What does it cost?
Migration is quoted per project after the free assessment, because it depends on your data, apps and integrations. We do not publish prices.
Can you migrate orders and reviews?
Orders move as read-only history with status and totals, and payments are never charged again. Reviews move when the platform lets us export them.
Do I need to know WooCommerce?
