Ecommerce migration services

Move from Shopify to Cmsmart Ecommerce

Built on WooCommerce, so you own your store, data and customers.

Quoted per project, no obligation. See also the free migration assessment.

In short

What this service does

This service moves a Shopify store to Cmsmart Ecommerce, built on WooCommerce. We migrate products, variants, customers, orders, reviews and pages, create a redirect map for your SEO URLs, rebuild the theme and replace Shopify apps with Cmsmart modules or plugins. It is quoted after a free assessment.

Why merchants move

Why merchants leave Shopify

The factors we hear most, stated fairly. Where a source link is shown, it is the platform's own page, read on 6 October 2026.

  • Fees depend on the payment provider

Shopify charges an extra transaction fee on orders paid through an outside payment provider instead of its own payment product. The rate is lower on higher plans.

  • Features arrive as apps

Product personalisation, options and print workflows are usually added as apps, and each app has its own subscription set by its developer. Costs add up per feature.

  • Checkout customisation depends on the plan

Customising the information, shipping and payment steps of checkout through apps is limited to the Plus plan. Lower plans can style the checkout and extend the thank-you page.

  • Product file limits

The product CSV has structural limits on options and images per product, and changing option values creates new variant IDs. Complex products need care when they are exported.

  • Customer data you can take with you

Customers can be exported, but the file has a size cap and passwords cannot be exported.

What moves

What we move, and how

You approve the redirect CSV before launch, so every old address has a destination.

DataWhat we do
Products and variantsTitles, descriptions, SKUs, variants, attributes, prices, stock and images.
Categories and attributesCategory tree and product attributes, mapped to WooCommerce.
CustomersAccounts and addresses. Shopify does not allow customer passwords to be exported, so customers set a new password with a reset email. We send the reset invitation as part of the cut-over plan.
OrdersOrder history with status and totals, as read-only history. Payments are never charged again.
ReviewsProduct reviews where the platform lets us export them.
Pages and blogContent pages and blog posts. Layouts are rebuilt, not copied.
SEO URLsA redirect map from every old URL to the new one, delivered as a CSV you approve before launch.
Titles and descriptionsMeta titles and descriptions carried over so search listings keep their wording.

What gets rebuilt

What is rebuilt on Cmsmart Ecommerce

Some things cannot be copied, so they are rebuilt and tested.

  • The storefront theme, designed on a Cmsmart Store preset or built to your brand.
  • Apps and extensions, replaced by Cmsmart modules (product designer, price calculator, file upload, artwork approval, B2B) or a matching WooCommerce plugin.
  • Integrations: payments, shipping, tax, email, ERP and CRM, rebuilt and tested against your real list.
  • Custom logic, such as special pricing or order rules, built as scoped custom development.

Apps

Shopify personalization apps

If you sell personalised or printed products on Shopify, your designer or options app is a separate subscription. These services replace a personalisation app with Cmsmart Product Designer on WooCommerce.

Process

How the migration runs

The timeline is set in the free assessment. It depends on catalogue size, order history and integrations.

  1. Free assessment: your platform, catalogue size, apps, integrations and goals.
  2. Data map and redirect map: what moves, what is rebuilt, and every old URL with its new address.
  3. Staging migration: your data in a private WooCommerce store you can open and test.
  4. QA: data counts, URLs, checkout, emails and tracking checked against your list.
  5. Cut-over: final data sync and DNS switch, planned for your quietest hours.
  6. 30-day watch: crawl errors, redirects and rankings reviewed after launch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my SEO rankings?

We cannot promise rankings or traffic. We build a redirect map from every old URL to its new one, carry over titles and descriptions, submit an XML sitemap and watch crawl errors for 30 days after launch.

Can customer passwords be migrated?

Shopify does not allow customer passwords to be exported, so customers set a new password with a reset email. We send the reset invitation as part of the cut-over plan.

How long does the migration take?

The timeline is set in the free assessment. It depends on catalogue size, order history and integrations, so we do not quote a standard duration.

Will my store go offline?

Your current store keeps selling while we build and test on a staging store. Only the final cut-over, a data sync and a DNS switch, needs a short planned window.

Can my current apps be replaced?

Most Shopify apps have a Cmsmart module or WooCommerce plugin with the same job. Personalisation apps are replaced by Cmsmart Product Designer, and the assessment lists every other app you run. A feature with no equivalent is quoted as custom development.

What does it cost?

Migration is quoted per project after the free assessment, because it depends on your data, apps and integrations. We do not publish prices.

Can you migrate orders and reviews?

Orders move as read-only history with status and totals, and payments are never charged again. Reviews move when the platform lets us export them.

Do I need to know WooCommerce?

No. We set up the store, train your team on daily tasks and can host and maintain it for you.

The website is very well made. However, I would like to point out the quick response of the staff, especially Ms. Andrea, who solved all our problems very quickly and kindly. Thanks.

NBDesigner is a very robust plugin for printing shops. It may take a bit of time to learn, as I am, but the support team is there to help. I've been in printing 30 years and I am impressed with how the developers have thought this plugin through. It has everything.
