Applies to Cmsmart Product Designer (NBDesigner) 2.17.0 · Updated October 2026. Screens: Cmsmart > Printing FAQs (FAQ manager, FAQ settings metabox) and Settings > Live chat & Design monitor.

In short

  • Outcome: buyers get an instant answer to common printing questions instead of waiting on an email or a live chat reply, so fewer pre-sale questions turn into abandoned carts.
  • How it works: you write FAQs once in Cmsmart > Printing FAQs, group them into categories, then map the categories (or single questions) into the live chat helper so they surface on the storefront.
  • What it takes: a few minutes writing real buyer questions, one setting flipped in Settings > Live chat & Design monitor, and a short review every time you add a product line.

Every product FAQ WooCommerce print shop teams answer by hand today can instead live in one screen: Cmsmart Printing FAQs turns scattered email and chat answers into a library you write once, group by category, and feed straight into the live chat widget so shoppers get an answer before they ever type a message to you.

What does it cost you when buyers can't find a quick answer?

Cmsmart Product Designer ships a Printing FAQs screen so a WooCommerce print shop stops re-answering the same upload, payment and turnaround questions by hand in email and chat, one buyer at a time, all day.

Before a buyer commits to a custom product, they almost always have a question: file formats, payment methods, print area size. With nowhere obvious to find the answer, they email and wait, open chat and wait, or leave without ordering. None of those are free.

  • Staff time spent retyping the same answer across email and chat.
  • Slower response times when pre-sale questions compete with production work.
  • Lost orders from shoppers who close the tab rather than wait, especially outside office hours.
  • Inconsistent answers when team members phrase the same policy differently.

Most shoppers would rather solve this themselves if you let them: in a 2024 HubSpot survey of service teams, 78% said customers prefer to solve issues independently before they ever reach for a human agent. That's exactly what a well-kept product FAQ WooCommerce print shop gives them.

What does an easy-answer WooCommerce print shop storefront look like?

Cmsmart's Printing FAQs screen gives a WooCommerce print shop a single library of real buyer questions, organized by category, that your team curates once and reuses across every product line and every live chat conversation.

Example scenario: a buyer lands on a custom product page at 9pm, unsure whether their file needs to be a certain size before they start designing. Instead of closing the tab, they open the chat bubble, tap "Upload requirements" from the FAQ helper, read the answer, and carry on designing. No ticket, no wait, no lost sale.

Cmsmart Product Designer 2.17.0, storefront product page: this is where a buyer is standing when a pre-sale question comes up, before they ever reach your inbox.

That only works once the FAQ library exists and is actually mapped into the chat widget - which is exactly what the next two sections cover.

How does Cmsmart turn your question library into answers that work?

Cmsmart connects three building blocks: a Printing FAQs library with categories, a live-chat FAQ helper that surfaces chosen questions on the storefront, and the Live chat & Design monitor switch that turns the whole widget on. All three already ship in the plugin.

The architecture is simple on purpose:

  • Library: Cmsmart > Printing FAQs holds every question and answer, each one tagged with a category (for example Business Card or Billing and payment issues).
  • Categories: group related questions so you can push a whole topic into chat in one click instead of hunting for each question.
  • Live-chat helper: the FAQ - Helper in live chat panel on the same screen is where you choose which FAQs and categories actually reach the storefront, and in what order.
  • Chat switch: Settings > Live chat & Design monitor > Enable live chat and design monitor must be Yes, or none of the above reaches a buyer - while Cmsmart Cloud is already turning their saved design into a print-ready PDF that matches the order in the background.

Cmsmart Product Designer 2.17.0, WP Admin > Cmsmart > Printing FAQs: the full screen - FAQ library and categories on top, the live-chat helper picker below.

Cmsmart insight: in our projects, this screen most often sits half-finished because a team writes a dozen good FAQs and stops - they never open the FAQ - Helper in live chat panel to actually map a category into the widget, so the library exists but never reaches a buyer.

Here is the library side of the screen on its own:

What's the business value of a tidy question library?

Cmsmart turns a Printing FAQs library into fewer repeat support contacts and a faster path to "add to cart" for buyers who had one small question standing between them and an order.

BenefitHow it shows up in your businessKPI to track
Fewer repeat support contactsStaff spend less time retyping the same policy answersPre-sale chat/email volume per week
Faster buyer decisionsA shopper gets an answer without leaving the product pageTime from product view to add-to-cart
Consistent policy answersEvery buyer sees the same wording for payment, upload and turnaround questionsSupport escalations caused by conflicting answers

Quick worksheet: take the number of pre-sale questions you currently get by chat or email in a typical week, multiply by the minutes an answer takes your team to type, then divide by 60. That is roughly the weekly staff time a well-mapped FAQ helper can give back to you once the matching question already exists in your library and is selected in Selected FAQs and categories - run the numbers with your own volume and your own answer time, not ours.

Google no longer shows FAQ rich results broadly in search - since 2023, the FAQPage rich result is limited to well-known government and health websites. Treat this screen as a conversion and support tool, not a search-snippet play.

How do you set up Cmsmart's question library and the live chat helper?

Cmsmart Product Designer's Printing FAQs screen takes minutes to configure: write questions, group them by category, map them into the live-chat helper, then switch on live chat in Settings.

  1. Open your WordPress dashboard and go to Cmsmart > Printing FAQs.
  2. In the Latest Printing FAQs panel, click Add New and write a question your buyers actually ask, with a clear title and a category such as Business Card or Billing and payment issues.
  3. Repeat for every real question you can find in old support emails and chat logs, then check the FAQ Categories panel to confirm the counts per category.
  4. In the FAQ - Helper in live chat panel, type or pick a category in the field above Add Category, then click it to push every FAQ in that category into the helper at once.
  5. For one-off questions that do not belong to a whole category, tick them in the FAQ checklist on the left and click Add FAQs instead.
  6. In Selected FAQs and categories, drag the ≡ handle to put your most-asked question first, tick and click Remove to drop anything stale, then click Update to save the list.
  7. Go to Settings > Live chat & Design monitor (General tab) and set Enable live chat and design monitor to Yes - the FAQ helper only reaches buyers once this switch is on.
  8. Open the storefront in a private browser window and confirm the chat bubble opens with your selected FAQs before you link to this flow from product pages or checkout.

Common mistakes and troubleshooting

  • FAQs written but nothing shows on the storefront: almost always Settings > Live chat & Design monitor > Enable live chat and design monitor is still set to No. Check that switch first.
  • A category looks empty in FAQ Categories: the category exists but has no FAQs assigned to it yet (a count of 0) - add FAQs to it or remove it from your mapping so buyers do not land on an empty topic.
  • You added a whole category by mistake: open Selected FAQs and categories, tick its row and click Remove, then click Update to drop it from the live widget.
  • Too many questions in the widget: once the list is right-sized, swap whole categories for the specific FAQs that matter most.

Cmsmart insight: add whole categories first, not single questions - every FAQ inside a category joins the widget the moment you click Add Category, which is faster than hunting down individual checkboxes once you are past a handful of products.

Going further: custom support workflows Cmsmart can build

Cmsmart builds custom FAQ and support workflows on top of the core plugin for stores that outgrow a single chat helper - from a public FAQ page to FAQs that change automatically by product type.

The Printing FAQs screen covers the common case well. Stores with more complex needs often ask us for:

  • A public, SEO-friendly FAQ page for shoppers who never open live chat.
  • Per-product or per-category auto-selection, so a mug buyer sees mug questions and a B2B buyer sees PO questions.
  • WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger hand-off once a question isn't covered, routed straight to a human.
  • Multilingual FAQ sets that switch with the storefront's language.
  • ERP/MIS-linked answers for turnaround time or stock status that change daily.

Delivery follows the same path each time: discovery, solution design, sprints, QA against your catalogue, launch, then support - see /ecommerce-projects.

Why work with Cmsmart on your print shop support?

Cmsmart has built and supported the Product Designer (NBDesigner) plugin since 2012 as part of Netbase JSC, with thousands of live WooCommerce stores using the same admin screens covered in this guide.

Cmsmart is a web-to-print and WooCommerce consultancy, part of Netbase JSC, since 2012: 6,300+ client projects, 4,600+ delivered, 1,800+ stores live today across 80+ countries, and a 4.2 rating on Trustpilot (404 reviews).

One buyer of the plugin, who left this question-heavy onboarding experience as a public review, put it this way: "I bought the plugin for my wordpress website, it is very complicated and have lots of questions to ask, the support team answer my question very quickly" - kevin woo, Trustpilot. A well-stocked Printing FAQs library is how that same support knowledge reaches your buyers without a human typing it every time.

Frequently asked questions: product FAQ WooCommerce print shop basics

Does adding Printing FAQs change my checkout or product pages?

No. Out of the box, Printing FAQs feeds the live chat helper only. A public FAQ page or per-product FAQ display built from the same library is custom development Cmsmart can build on top.

Will my Printing FAQs show up as a rich result in Google Search?

Not as a general rule. Google restricted the FAQPage rich result to well-known government and health sites in 2023, so plan this feature around deflecting pre-sale chat questions, not search snippets.

Can I use different FAQs for a print shop, POD apparel and B2B catalogue on the same store?

Yes, that's what categories are for. Keep your product-specific questions in their own category (for example Business Card) and map only the categories that match what a given buyer is looking at into the helper.

What's the difference between adding a Category and adding individual FAQs?

Add Category pushes every FAQ already tagged with that category into the live-chat helper in one click. The FAQ checklist lets you add single questions one at a time, which is better for exceptions that don't belong to a whole category.

Do I need a developer to manage Printing FAQs day to day?

No. Writing FAQs, grouping them into categories and mapping them into the helper are all done from the WP Admin screens shown above; no code is required for the core workflow.

Can Cmsmart connect our FAQs to WhatsApp or build a public FAQ page?

Yes - that's custom development. Cmsmart builds WhatsApp/Messenger hand-off, public FAQ pages and per-product auto-selected FAQs for stores that need more than the built-in live chat helper.
