Applies to Cmsmart Product Designer (NBDesigner) 2.18.0 · Updated October 2026. Covers Cmsmart Cloud > AI Tools, the Overview tab's token wallet, the Cloud Storage tab, and the AI Preflight box on the WooCommerce order screen.

In short

  • Outcome: configure AI Preflight, Cloud AI tools and the token wallet once so every order gets checked for resolution, color mode and bleed before production, without a surprise token bill.
  • How it works: one master switch gates customer-facing AI, per-tool limits cap spend, and a live balance on the Overview tab shows what's left.
  • What it takes: about 15 minutes in Cmsmart > Cmsmart Cloud, a DPI target for your print method, and a decision on who may trigger AI runs.

AI Preflight Cloud Storage Settings WooCommerce stores actually rely on all live on one screen: Cmsmart Cloud. Leave them on "whatever shipped with the plugin" and you get two problems at once — a token wallet that drains on anonymous visitors, and low-resolution artwork that reaches production because nobody set the quality checker. Cmsmart Product Designer (formerly NBDesigner) puts every one of these controls, plus the order screen's AI Preflight box, within one settings pass, and this chapter walks through each field, what it does, and what to set it to for a print shop, a POD apparel store, or a B2B account.

What does it cost you when AI Preflight and Cloud settings are left on default?

Cmsmart Product Designer ships its AI Preflight checker and Cloud AI tools enabled for every visitor by default, so skipping this settings pass doesn't mean "nothing happens" — it means an unmanaged token balance and a quality check nobody tuned for your print method, so defects still reach production.

  • Unbounded storefront spend: Who may use it defaults to Everyone, and the per-customer run limits default to 0 (no limit) — every anonymous click on Preflight, Remove Background or Upscale draws from the shop's wallet, with no follow-up if they never order.
  • A DPI target nobody chose: Required DPI ships at 300, right for offset litho and most POD apparel, but a line printing from vector files needs that number set on purpose.
  • Cloud Storage filling up unnoticed: AI results, uploads, saved designs and order files all count against the account's allowance; a shop that never opens the Storage tab won't see the creep until a renewal flags it.

This isn't guesswork pricing: self-hosting that same category of files on a plain object-storage service costs list price per gigabyte regardless — Backblaze's published B2 rate is $6.95 per TB per month (Backblaze B2 pricing, accessed 2026-10-12) — the kind of line item the Cloud Storage tab's included allowance exists to keep off your bill.

What does it look like when AI Preflight and Cloud settings are dialed in?

Cmsmart Product Designer run well means every order's artwork is scanned for resolution, color mode, bleed and fonts before it reaches the press, customers trying AI tools get a result or a polite lock instead of a silent failure, and the owner sees token spend and storage use on one screen.

Example scenario: a buyer uploads a logo that looks sharp on screen but is only 72 DPI at print size. Preflight flags it on save, offers an AI upscale as the fix, and the order reaches the queue already corrected — instead of reaching a press operator who reprints it later at the shop's cost.

Getting there is a configuration decision, not a build — though if your catalog needs different rules per product line, that's exactly what talking to an ecommerce expert is for.

How does Cmsmart's AI Preflight Cloud Storage Settings WooCommerce solution work?

Cmsmart Cloud is one admin page with four tabs — Overview, AI Tools, Storage and Billing — so the token wallet, the AI quality checks and the storage allowance behind every design are configured and monitored together instead of across three separate screens.

  • Token wallet (Overview): a running balance, 30-day usage, and a "Buy tokens" dialog.
  • AI Tools: a master switch, an audience setting, usage limits, and per-tool toggles for Preflight, Background Remover and Upscale.
  • Cloud Storage: the account's storage allowance, usage by category, and monthly CDN bandwidth.
  • AI Preflight on the order: a per-design quality result, independent of the storefront AI switch.
  • Cmsmart Cloud rendering: the same renderer behind both the automatic print-ready PDF and Create PDF, so what Preflight checked is what gets printed.

Cmsmart insight: the single most common misunderstanding we see is treating the customer-facing "AI in the design tool" switch as an off switch for everything. It only gates storefront buttons — your own wp-admin preflight and auto-fix on order files keep running either way, exactly as the screen itself says.

The Cloud Storage tab isn't in this job's captures, so here are the facts only, from the release that introduced it: it shows the account's lifecycle state, storage used against the included allowance, a breakdown by category (AI results, uploads, saved designs, order files, temp uploads) and the month's CDN bandwidth, plus an Enable Cloud button that works without a subscription — a trial cap applies instead. Every figure comes from the same usage endpoint the cmsmart.net dashboard's own Storage page reads.

What's the business value of getting these settings right?

Configuring Cmsmart's AI Preflight and Cloud settings turns two open-ended cost centers — reprints from bad artwork and unmanaged cloud spend — into numbers tracked on the Overview tab, with a KPI for each instead of a surprise on next month's bill.

BenefitHow it shows upKPI to track
Fewer reprintsPreflight catches resolution/mode issues before the press does"Defects caught" (Overview, 30/90-day) vs. your historic reprint rate
Predictable AI spendUsage limits and pause floor stop one busy day draining the walletTokens used/month vs. plan; "Blocked demand" count

ROI worksheet (your variables): monthly reprint savings ≈ (orders/month × your historic reprint rate) × (cost of one physical reprint − cost of one AI auto-fix run). Run it with your own volume and reprint rate before deciding how strict to make Required DPI and Automatic runs above.

How to configure AI Preflight, Cloud AI tools and the Token Wallet

Cmsmart Product Designer puts every one of these controls under Cmsmart > Cmsmart Cloud, plus the per-order AI Preflight check on the WooCommerce order screen, so setup is one settings pass rather than hunting across separate pages.

  1. Go to WP Admin > Plugins and confirm your Cmsmart Product Designer version before changing anything (see the Plugins-row screenshot above).
  2. Open Cmsmart > Cmsmart Cloud > Overview and note your token balance and 30-day usage as a baseline.
  3. On the AI Tools tab, set AI in the design tool and, under Who may use it, pick Everyone, Members, or Customers who have ordered.
  4. Set AI runs per customer per day and Pause customer AI below, and keep When a customer cannot use AI on "Show the button with a lock."
  5. Set Required DPI, choose Manual or Automatic preflight, and set the matching Pause automatic runs below floor.
  6. Toggle AI Background Remover and AI Image Upscale on, pick an Upscale engine, then click Save settings at the bottom of the tab.
  7. Open the Storage tab and click Enable Cloud if it isn't already on; no subscription is required to start.
  8. Place a test order, open its WooCommerce edit screen to confirm the AI Preflight box is present, and check Cmsmart > Orders > Order detail for the per-item status next to the design file.

Cmsmart Product Designer 2.18.0, WP Admin > Cmsmart > Orders > Order detail: the design's preflight status ("Not checked" here) sits next to the file, independent of the storefront AI settings.

Cmsmart Product Designer 2.18.0, WP Admin > order > Create PDF: the same Cmsmart Cloud renderer that produces the automatic print-ready PDF also powers Create PDF.

Two settings have an effect you can check on the storefront right away:

Common mistakes and troubleshooting:

  • Wallet draining unexpectedly: check Who may use it and whether the two usage-limit fields are still at 0.
  • Preflight seems to stop after disabling AI: the master switch only gates storefront buttons; the Preflight Quality Checker toggle is separate and independent.
  • Vector logos flagged as low-resolution: the DPI checker scores raster pixel density; treat a flagged vector layer as a support case, not a reason to lower Required DPI store-wide.
  • Automatic preflight spending more than expected: it runs once per order by design; raise the pause floor or switch low-volume products to Manual.

Going further: what can Cmsmart build on top of AI Preflight and Cloud?

Cmsmart builds custom extensions on top of the standard AI Preflight and Cloud settings — per-product DPI rules, ERP-linked low-balance alerts, or a managed multi-store rollout — as custom development for shops whose workflow needs more than one shared settings screen offers.

  • Per-product-line preflight rules: a packaging line and a photo-gift line shouldn't share one DPI threshold; Cmsmart builds category-level overrides on top of the single store-wide setting.
  • Wallet alerts into your own systems: Cmsmart connects a low-balance or blocked-demand event to Slack, a helpdesk, or an ERP/MIS instead of only an admin email.
  • Audience rules beyond the three built-in options: tiered B2B contracts often need "approved buyers only," which Cmsmart builds as custom development.
  • Multi-store Cloud rollout: one managed configuration and reporting layer across several Cmsmart-powered storefronts instead of repeating this pass on each site.

We deliver this like every custom project: discovery, solution design, build sprints, QA against real orders, launch, and support (see our delivery model).

Why work with Cmsmart on AI and Cloud settings?

Cmsmart has built and supported WooCommerce print and customization stores since 2012 as a Netbase JSC division, and the AI Preflight, Cloud Storage and token wallet covered here are the same tools our own delivery team configures on client stores every week.

Cmsmart has delivered 6,300+ client projects and 4,600+ completed builds since 2012, with 1,800+ stores live today across 80+ countries, and carries a 4.2 rating on Trustpilot (404 reviews). That record runs on the same plugin and settings covered here. See the Cmsmart Product Designer plugin page, our broader AI for ecommerce work, or the AI integration service for WooCommerce stores.

Why this matters: WooCommerce powers more than 4 million online stores and 31% of the top one million ecommerce sites (WooCommerce, accessed 2026-10-12), and screen-to-press color consistency is exactly what the ICC profile standard addresses (International Color Consortium, accessed 2026-10-12) — why Preflight's color-mode check matters alongside the Output tab's ICC/CMYK options.

Frequently asked questions about AI Preflight and Cloud Storage settings

How much does it cost to run AI Preflight and the image tools?

Every AI run spends tokens from your Cmsmart Cloud wallet, shown live on the Overview tab. You buy tokens through the "Buy tokens" dialog without leaving wp-admin; nothing is billed per customer.

Does Cloud Storage require a paid subscription to turn on?

No. The Enable Cloud button on the Storage tab works without a subscription — a trial cap applies instead until you choose a plan.

What happens to my customers when the token balance runs out?

They never see a balance figure. AI tools simply "rest": the design tool shows the locked (or hidden) button instead of erroring out, and you get one email at the start, then at most a daily digest.

Will a failed or low-quality preflight result stop checkout?

No — in our own test run, a preflight check that returned an empty auto-fix result still let the design proceed through Process, cart and checkout normally.

How do I stop anonymous visitors from draining my AI token balance?

Set Who may use it to Members or Customers who have ordered, and set both usage-limit fields above 0. The lock-icon option still shows who tried, without spending a token on them.

Can I see what AI is doing without opening the design tool myself?

Yes — the Overview tab's AI Insights panel breaks down every run by day, tool and product, including blocked demand that never spent a token.
