In short

  • The Cmsmart Boxed Store is a ready-made WooCommerce storefront for packaging and box printers, with branding, pages, a sample catalogue and a product designer already wired together.
  • Store Setup v2 installs the theme, Cmsmart Stores Blocks and Cmsmart Product Designer in one pass; you then spend the first hour on branding, products, payments, shipping and one test order.
  • It takes a Fullstore (or higher) licence, about an hour of your time, and your own box artwork and shipping rules to replace the sample data.

The Cmsmart Boxed Store is a custom packaging store WooCommerce theme and demo catalogue for packaging and box printers, built on Cmsmart Stores and bundled with Cmsmart Product Designer. Set up through Cmsmart Store Setup v2, it gives you a branded storefront, imported pages, a sample catalogue and a working product configurator in roughly an hour, so you can swap in your own box styles and start quoting before the day is out.

A buyer who wants a run of mailer boxes does not want to email a PDF and wait for a quote. They want to pick a box style, enter dimensions, see a price for their quantity, and either check out or ask for a quote on a bigger run. Most packaging businesses selling online still bolt a configurator onto a generic theme, or run that whole process over email — in a custom packaging market Grand View Research values at an estimated $39.7 billion in 2025, that manual gap is expensive at scale.

Cmsmart Boxed Store skips that step: a WooCommerce theme made for a print catalogue, paired with Cmsmart Product Designer so one demo product already has a configurator, printing options and a quote path turned on. This guide covers the first hour after install — branding, the sample catalogue, one product's designer and printing-option setup, payments, shipping, and a test order.

What does running a packaging storefront without a configurator actually cost you?

Every week a packaging store runs on a generic theme with no configurator, staff re-quote the same box sizes by email and buyers abandon carts that show no price. Cmsmart Boxed Store replaces that manual loop with a storefront, configurator and printing options already connected.

  • Manual quoting. Every custom dimension or board stock becomes an email thread instead of an on-page price.
  • Theme-to-plugin mismatch. A generic theme and a bolted-on designer plugin are rarely tested together.
  • Reprints from unapproved artwork. Without an approval step, a print file can reach production before anyone signs it off.
  • Staff time on repeat setup. Pages, menus, payments and shipping get rebuilt from scratch per store.

A rough formula for the manual-quoting cost on your own numbers: (custom-quote requests per month) × (minutes per quote) × (your loaded hourly rate) ÷ 60. Run your own figures before you decide what a self-serve price matrix and quote form are worth.

What could your packaging store look like by tomorrow morning?

Imagine a packaging buyer configuring a mailer box size, seeing a live price for their quantity, and either checking out or sending a quote request for a bulk run — all on your own branded WooCommerce store, with Cmsmart Product Designer and printing options handling the configurator and the math.

Example scenario. A regional packaging converter sets up the Cmsmart Boxed Store on a Friday. By Monday the sample catalogue is swapped for real box SKUs with their own size and board-stock printing options. A buyer configures a box style and quantity, gets an instant price for a small run, and uses the built-in quote request for a larger one — landing in the store's order list the same afternoon, no separate inbox to check.

Setting this up yourself takes about an hour once the store is installed. If you'd rather have Cmsmart's team configure the box styles, pricing and shipping for you, talk to an ecommerce expert about a guided setup.

How does Cmsmart get a packaging store onto your site in the first place?

Cmsmart Store Setup v2 installs the Boxed Store, Cmsmart Stores Blocks and Cmsmart Product Designer together as one tested bundle, through a one-file installer or a manual theme upload, so theme and product designer start on versions tested against each other.

This guide does not repeat the install itself — the install hub covers both paths in full. In short: browse the live demo first, then pick the Boxed Store in your Cmsmart dashboard's Store Catalogue and run Store Setup — a one-file installer (about 10 minutes) or a manual theme upload (about 30 minutes). Since 19 October 2026 the installer (kit 2.0.3) publishes a new store live immediately, with no WooCommerce "Coming soon" screen to switch off afterwards.

The released Cmsmart Boxed Store 2.0.0 content tree installs Cmsmart Product Designer 2.18.0 and Cmsmart Stores Blocks 2.0.1 together — those are the versions you should see fresh. One item for your checklist: once live, open Dashboard → Updates and install any Cmsmart Product Designer update WordPress offers.

How do you set up the Cmsmart Boxed Store in the first hour?

After install, Cmsmart Boxed Store needs about an hour of configuration: confirm the bundled versions, set your branding, review the imported pages and sample catalogue, configure Cmsmart Product Designer and printing options on one product, then connect payments, shipping, store address and currency before a test order.

  1. Confirm the install. Open Appearance → Themes. Cmsmart Boxed Store should be active, with parent theme Cmsmart Stores installed alongside it, so Cmsmart can update the base theme without touching your customisations.
  2. Set your branding. Use Settings → General for your site title, and the Site Editor for logo, header and footer — the customise guide covers the styles panel and header variants.
  3. Check the imported pages and menus. Pages → All Pages lists what the demo import created: home, shop, cart, checkout, my account and a few designer-specific pages. Review and trim what you don't need.
  4. Review the sample catalogue. Products → All Products shows the demo catalogue — the same generic print-shop sample data used across the Printstores family, business cards and postcards, not boxes, so treat it as placeholder data.
  5. Open the Cmsmart Product Designer tab on one product. In a sample product's Setting Cmsmart box: Enable Design, pick the design editor layout (Modern is recommended), turn on templates, and set the DPI and dimension unit.
  6. Set printing options and the quote path. In NBD options → Printing Option, enable printing options and edit the set that drives box size or board-stock pricing. The same panel lists Request Quote, Design Guideline and Printing FAQ — enable Request Quote for runs too large for a fixed price.
  7. Set your store address and currency. WooCommerce → Settings → General holds the store address (used for tax and shipping), selling locations and currency — placeholder values on a fresh install.
  8. Connect a payment method. WooCommerce → Settings → Payments lists WooCommerce Payments, PayPal and offline payments (WooCommerce's payments documentation covers each); configure at least one before taking a real order.
  9. Set up a shipping zone. WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping ships with one zone offering local pickup only — add what boxed freight needs (see WooCommerce's guide to shipping zones if the concept is new).
  10. Place one test order end to end. Add a configured product to the cart, check out with a test payment method, and confirm the order appears in WooCommerce → Orders with its design and printing-option choices attached.

Cmsmart insight: don't be surprised that the sample catalogue shows business cards and postcards instead of boxes — all six Printstores packs currently share one generic print-shop demo catalogue. Treat it as a placeholder for pages and category structure, and replace the products before you point marketing at the store.

Go-live checklist, once the ten steps above are done:

  • Branding, pages and menus match your business, not the demo.
  • At least one real box product has Cmsmart Product Designer and printing options configured.
  • A payment method and a shipping zone are both active, and a test order reached WooCommerce → Orders.
  • The sample catalogue's placeholder products are unpublished or replaced.

What should packaging and box printers change first in the sample data?

Because the Boxed Store ships with the same generic sample catalogue as the rest of the Printstores family, Cmsmart Product Designer's per-product settings are where a packaging business does its real work: box dimensions, board stock as a printing option, and a quote path for oversized runs.

  • Use dimensions, not just templates, for box variants — set the dimension unit (centimetres on the demo product above) to match how you spec boxes internally.
  • Put board stock and finish on the printing-options axis, not as separate products. A price-matrix-style option (see the Price Matrix guide) keeps one box style as one product with a size-by-quantity price grid.
  • Check the storefront on a phone. The Start Design button sits in a fixed bar at the bottom of the product page, often the first thing a buyer taps.

What's the business value and the KPIs to track once your packaging store is live?

Cmsmart Boxed Store turns box configuration, pricing and quoting into something a buyer does themselves, so the value shows up as fewer manual quotes, consistent per-box-size margins, and fewer reprints from unapproved artwork — each trackable as a KPI against your own baseline.

  • Hours saved on setup = (hours to build pages/menus/catalogue by hand) − (hours on this first-hour checklist)
  • Monthly quoting time saved = (custom quotes per month) × (minutes per quote) × (loaded hourly rate) ÷ 60
  • Reprint cost avoided = (reprints per month from unapproved art today) × (average cost per reprint)

What can Cmsmart build on top of the Boxed Store as your packaging business grows?

Beyond what Store Setup v2 gives you, Cmsmart builds custom development for packaging needs — die-line templates, ERP/MIS-connected pricing, B2B account pricing and reorder flows — scoped to how your business actually quotes and produces work.

  • Die-line and structural templates. Real structural dielines, not just flat print templates, aren't part of the core product designer today — Cmsmart builds that into the design area as custom development.
  • ERP/MIS-connected pricing. When cost-plus pricing lives in an MIS or ERP system, Cmsmart connects the store's pricing to it instead of duplicating the logic in WooCommerce.
  • B2B account pricing and reorder. Repeat buyers on negotiated pricing, with saved specs to reorder in a couple of clicks, is common once a store is past its first few months live.

Cmsmart's delivery approach: discovery, a solution design you approve, build sprints, QA against your real catalogue, launch and support — the process behind the project case studies.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own products instead of the sample catalogue?

Yes. The sample catalogue is placeholder data — business cards and postcards, not boxes — so unpublish or edit those products and add your own box SKUs with Cmsmart Product Designer and printing options configured.

Which Cmsmart plan activates the Boxed Store?

The Boxed Store is free to set up and runs with sample data from the first minute; a Fullstore licence (or higher — B2B or Marketplace) activates it for a live domain. Current plans and prices are on Cmsmart's pricing page.

Can I change the colours, logo and header without touching code?

Yes — the Site Editor's Styles panel controls colours, typography and header layout across the whole store at once. The customise guide covers the header variants and recommended plugins.

Does the store open with a "Coming soon" page while I set it up?

Not since 19 October 2026: installer kit 2.0.3 publishes a new store live immediately, with no separate "Coming soon" screen to switch off before buyers can see it.

Can customers get a quote instead of an instant price for large box runs?

Yes — the NBD options panel that holds printing options also has a Request Quote tab you can enable per product, so oversized or non-standard runs reach you as a structured quote rather than a fixed checkout price.
